In researching recovery options in Northern California, Pura Vida Recovery in Santa Rosa consistently comes up as a top-tier recommendation. From what I’ve seen of their community-based model and the serene location, it’s a standout choice for anyone looking for a supportive environment. The staff seems deeply committed to providing a safe and structured space.

Making the leap to enter Pura Vida's PHP/IOP program while living at their sober living has truly given me a life I never thought I would have back again. During my time in the program I gained structure, support, community, and a new foundation that has given me a new lease on life.

Pura Vida saved my life, I owe everything I have to them. From the amazing staff at detox, to the seamless transition to residential rehab where I learned so much about coping skills. While in rehab I was able to tour some of the sober living environments, where I currently live. I feel supported and my needs are met. I’ve done the day treatment at pura Vida and it was the perfect transition to resume normal life. I’m about to start afternoon treatment and I couldn’t be more excited. The pura Vida system doesn’t feel like a rehab facility it feels like a family with the immense amounts of support woven into the program. From the alumni meetings to the overall positive atmosphere.

As a sober, recovering addict, I owe a huge amount of my success to Pura Vida. I came into their program needing exactly what they offered. Pura Vida provided a detox, a treatment program, and a sober living environment that allowed the safe space, encouragement, support, structure and guidelines for me to grow into the openness and willingness I now have to stay sober and live a life full of clarity, fellowship, and promise. Pura Vida tailored my recovery journey, meeting me exactly where I was, and working with my trauma and old belief systems. Their loving, dedicated, and knowledgeable staff cradled and pushed me on the path that lead me to the beautiful place I am today. I now work as an assistant manager at the sober living home I reside in which allows me to support others in their sobriety and recovery, while maintaining my own. I am deeply grateful for Pura Vida, and will always have profound affection for what they have provided me. Their genuine love, and sincere motivation to assist folks with addiction issues in the Santa Rosa community is unparalleled, and deserves widespread acknowledgment, and the highest regional accolades possible for their long history of successful service, and bright future with continued growth.

Absolutely amazing service to family and friends and myself .The staff and patients showed a great deal of respect for neighbors and one another as well as showing hospitality to anyone who they had made contact with. The Pura Vida has saved my life and others in so many ways and always went above and beyond to make sure everyone received the care that they required to make the most of their stay.

Wow, the Skyhawk neighborhood is really out here doing Olympic-level stretching to paint Pura Vida as some kind of threat. Impressive imagination for people who have never even walked through the doors. It’s almost funny watching folks who openly admit they’ve had zero contact with the program act like experts. Meanwhile, the staff at Pura Vida are actually helping people get sober and rebuild their lives… but sure, let’s pretend the real danger is the recovery program and not, you know, addiction itself. Before anyone buys into the drama, maybe read reviews from people who have actually been part of the program. Spoiler: the real experiences don’t match the Skyhawk rumor mill.

I was surprised to see the recent run of one star reviews. After reading Pura Vida’s responses and looking into the City Planning Commission vote they referenced, it’s clear many of these comments are coming from neighbors who oppose the program’s expansion, not from people who have ever interacted with the services. For anyone reading reviews, please make sure you look for feedback from people with real experience here.Pura Vida is a genuinely caring, well run program. The staff are invested in the recovery of their clients and provide structure, accountability, and sincere support. This is a place where people are working hard to rebuild their lives.Saying “we support treatment, just not here” is discriminatory. It suggests that people struggling with addiction are dangerous by default when they are simply community members trying to heal. They are neighbors, parents, kids, coworkers, and friends.Zoning disagreements are one thing. Posting negative reviews about a program you have never been part of only harms the people who are trying to recover. Pura Vida is doing important, compassionate work, and it deserves to be evaluated based on real experience, not fear or stigma.

Pura Vida Sober Living genuinely saved my uncle’s life. When he got there, he was at rock bottom—disconnected from everyone and barely hanging on. The structure and support gave him what he needed to get serious about recovery. It wasn’t easy, but it worked. He came out of it clear-headed, responsible, and like himself again. Because of Pura Vida, I have my uncle back.

Hello my name is Lori and I'm a resident here at Redwood House with Pura Vida. I've been here almost 4 months and being here has saved my life.I've been an addict for 26 years in and out of rehabs all over the place staying clean long enough to put some time together to earn trust and relationships back only to destroy it all over again. When I was at "my" bottom I was living in my car ready to end my life until I reached out to a nurse I trusted who put me in touch with Pura Vida and Palama who answered my call.So scared and unsure of what was going to happen next she kept reassuring me she was there to help me and not to give up. I finally felt like someone truly cared and wasn't just writing my name and number down saying they'd call back. She meant meant it I could hear it in her voice and words encouraging me not quit on myself and that she would find a bed somewhere for me . About an hour later I called her back she had a bed for me and an address with a manager named Kenny waiting to meet me there. He made sure I felt safe and had everything I needed. Making intake as comfortable as possible when talking about personal stuff. He was easy to talk to.In a few hours I managed to get on a stable dose of suboxone ,secure housing and make friends that have turned into family for me over the time I've lived here.I would definitely recommend Pura Vida to whomever is struggling or has a loved one out there struggling with addiction to drugs and alcohol. It took me 26 years to finally get what the 12 steps are about and why it's crucial to have a commitment. Pura Vida and the leaders in the house the family inside the house is what keeps me motivated everyday to want to live period.

In like 2018 early 2019 I began my journey in Pura Vida. I stayed in their sober living and attended their IOP classes. Before coming into the sober living, I had no accountability and didn’t know how to function as a productive member of society. I planned to stay in the sober living for a maximum of 90 days, but it was so beneficial that I ended up staying for three years. I went from being a problem client to be becoming a sober living house manager. I learned integrity, honesty, accountability, and how to give respect so that I could receive it and return. Living in Pura Vida, those three years was Probably the best time of my life. I had an absolute blast and was, for the first time in my life, able to maintain recovery. Their IOP program was absolutely amazing as well. Shout out to my counselor! She met me where I was at, and didn’t make me feel like I needed to conform anything that I wasn’t comfortable with. Today I am Over 6 1/2 years clean and sober and I’m on a career path that I am proud to speak of. Thank you, Pura Vida for helping me find myself again. Not only am I proud of where I’m at, but my parents can say that they are proud of their daughter again, and that is priceless

Being held accountable for certain aspects of your recovery and getting a safe place to live gives you so much more freedom in your early recovery. I've been in programs or lived in other SLEs that did not feel as well managed, and it would lead to issues that I did not expect. I would recommend Pura Vida In-patient or the SLEs to anyone looking to get or stay sober.

Pura Vida was a fantastic opportunity to fight my battle with addiction. I have a severe opioid addiction. I was losing my battle and I desperately needed help. I was 97 lbs when I walked through their doors. I had tried to quit my addiction time and time again. I signed up with their Intensive Outpatient Program after I went through a 30 inpatient recovery home. I still needed help after my initial treatment and their IOP program was a 4 month long, 3 days a week for 3 hours. In that program, I gained tools to use to remain clean while navigating life's trials and tribulations. During my program, my brother passed away suddenly. I used my tools that I learned when I had urges to use. It also included a weekly therapy session. The staff is absolutely top-notch. They are attentive, caring and professional. The classes were easy to get to because they provided a Lyft ride for me. When I arrived they had healthy snacks and drinks and even offered me a clean and sober home to live in while utlizing the program. They set me up to remain sober after I leave the program by having me arrange weekly meetings, therapy sessions, etc When I graduated the program I felt completely capable of maintaining my sobriety with a treasure chest of tools that I acquired. Today I have 5 months clean and sober. I would not have been able to keep clean without the extra guidance that Pura Vida provided. I will always be forever grateful. I am proud to call myself and alumni and I hope to embark in one their monthly outings.

My experience was great. I was very nervous because this was my first time doing anything like this and everyone made me feel so welcomed & comfortable. The food options were good and it was so nice that you could always help yourself to a beverage or a snack as well. They really paid attention to sticking with the rules that mattered without being strict. They seem like they really have a system going that works. I also enjoyed the groups that they put together. One was a guest from another Pura Vida recovery program, and it was very educational and eye-opening. They have good TV/Streaming options! I just wish that they had a certain rule about the living room TV not reaching a certain number volume after 9 o’clock or something. Bring earplugs! Although they did give me some, which was even nicer, but they’re the orange ones that don’t work very well. Beds and pillows were comfy enough-I slept really good most nights! And that is rare for me, especially in a place. I’m not familiar. They motivated me to continue my sobriety and this is the longest I have been sober in years. Go!

The structured program that Ben, Alex and their mentors formed is a gift to those that seek a simple way of living. The outpatient program is a “launching pad” for recovery! I was shown how to use cognitive tools to manage my thoughts, feelings and emotions that would usually drive me to use mind altering chemicals.Men’s sober living housing is well furnished and run by experienced men with deep ties to the Santa Rosa fellowship. With their guidance I was able to intergrade smoothly into the recovery community and thrive as a newcomer. The household responsibilities and curfew’s helped me recalibrate priorities and sharpened my time management skills.PV provided a safe and well structured environment to regain control of my life. PV is a means to a better life, however it is not to be confused with a program of recovery. A Higher means of help is needed to achieve a sober life."Pura vida" is also Costa Rica's unofficial national slogan and embodies a way of life that celebrates good fortune, encourages people to take things in stride, and represents a relaxed attitude towards life. It can also be used to convey that people should be grateful for what they have instead of dwelling on negative things.

Finding a safe and supportive space during the delicate process of recovery is paramount, and my experience at Pura Vida Recovery Services has been nothing short of transformative (and yes, I was a client!). This haven for healing goes above and beyond expectations, creating an environment that fosters growth, sobriety, and a sense of community. The first aspect that stands out is the commitment to creating a safe and drug-free atmosphere. The stringent rules and random drug testing ensure that residents adhere to the principles of sobriety, providing a sense of security for those navigating the early stages of recovery. The living facilities themselves are well-maintained, offering a comfortable and welcoming space for residents. From the communal areas to individual rooms, the cleanliness and organization reflect the staff's dedication to providing a conducive setting for recovery. The attention to detail in maintaining a positive living environment significantly contributes to the overall well-being of residents. What sets Pura Vida Recovery Services apart is its emphasis on community building. Regular group activities and communal responsibilities promote a sense of unity among residents. This shared experience not only helps individuals overcome isolation but also fosters a network of understanding and encouragement that is crucial in the recovery journey. The structured approach to daily life strikes an ideal balance between support and independence. Residents are encouraged to pursue personal goals, further education, or secure employment while adhering to the rules of the environment. This empowerment helps individuals rebuild their lives while maintaining the stability provided by the sober living community. In conclusion, Pura Vida Recovery Services is a beacon of hope for those seeking a supportive and nurturing space to rebuild their lives after addiction. The combination of a drug-free environment, well-maintained facilities, compassionate staff, and a focus on community makes it an outstanding choice for individuals committed to the path of recovery. My experience here has been nothing short of life-changing, and I wholeheartedly recommend Pura Vida Recovery Services to anyone in search of a haven for healing.
